From time to time, you may see a payment that has a status of “Unclaimed”. This can happen for two reasons.
1) The payment was sent in a currency that you do not presently accept. The default paypal settings will hold all payments that are in a currency you do not accept until you click on the Accept or Deny buttons. You can alter these settings so that any payments in currencies you do not accept are either accepted in the currency they are sent using, or converted to your base currency. To do this, simply login to your paypal account, click on “profile” and finally click on “Payment Receiving Preferences”. Here you will find “Block payments sent to me in a currency I do not hold” where you can set what should happen when a payment is sent in a currency you do not presently accept.
2) The payment was made using an e-cheque or bank transfer. These payments take 3-5 days to clear. While paypal used to use a different status so that you could clearly see that the payment was pending. You can check to see if the payment is an e-cheque, by clicking on the “details” link next to the payment. Here it will tell you the payment method used next to “Payment type”.
